Frequently asked questions
What is WebPartner™?
WebPartner helps you find news and updates as they happen. WebPartner feeds list news and updates from a wide variety of websites and RSS feeds. You can subscribe to existing WebPartner feeds and view the contents online, by email, on your mobile or on Twitter. If you can't find what you want, you can create your own feeds, specifying any number of websites and RSS feeds as the sources of news and updates for your feed.

WebPartner is perfect for busy professionals or anyone needing to track specific types of information like competitors' press releases, product or industry news or areas of personal interest like sports, leisure or entertainment news.
What is a WatchPoint?
A WatchPoint acts as a monitor, alerting you when content changes so you only get the latest from the web. A WatchPoint can monitor a portion of a web page, an image, or an RSS feed. When the WatchPoint notices a change, you'll see a new headline on your WebPartner feed.
How fast can WebPartner display updates?
WebPartner can update headlines as fast as often every 15 minutes at the discretion of the Feed Editor. WebPartner updates always appear before Google Alerts and if the feed is working on the direct source of information you will see updates often before other sites follow along later.
Why is WebPartner faster and more precise than Google™ Alerts?
Google Alerts use spider technology to try and discover instances where specific phrases or combinations of words are used. WebPartner WatchPoints are targeted by the user to prevent extraneous or unrelated information.  Google Alerts, while useful, tend to be imprecise and may wind up sending unnecessary or unwanted information. For example, if you set a Google Alert to “Hurricane Tracking”, you get more than just weather and climate information. Your inbox would also be flooded with news about the Miami Hurricanes college football team and the Carolina Hurricanes professional hockey team.

WebPartner helps deliver all the information you want, but it comes sorted and filtered so that you save time and effort. With WatchPoints set at over appropriate places that best gather information about specific topics, you’ll only get what you’re specifically looking for.
Can I use Google Alerts and WebPartner together?
Yes, there is a great way to use WebPartner and Google Alerts together. When you see an interesting headline in your Google Alerts notification, you can review the article and decide whether to create a solo headline or perhaps you've found a new website on which to set a WatchPoint monitor to track future changes automatcially.
Is WebPartner the fastest way to get updates online?
Yes. WebPartner delivers the fastest updates because it actively monitors websites, images, and RSS feeds. There is no need to wait until a search engine such as Google or persistent search service such as Google Alerts rediscovers the new content.
Can WebPartner monitor things that RSS Readers can’t?
Yes. RSS Readers act just as they are described — they are a conduit for RSS feeds, which are produced at the discretion of a news source or website. However, RSS feeds fail to capture much of the content on a site. For example, corporate websites often have RSS feeds for their latest press releases. Other news, such as executive team changes, product updates, and service/support updates, may not be covered in the press release RSS feed and therefore might well be missed.

WebPartner WatchPoints give you a simple and practical way to monitor the information you specifically want. It saves you from taking the time to check a site for updates. Instead, when updates occur, you receive notification in an area in your browser (a WebPartner feed) so you always have the latest information handy.
Can I use WebPartner as an RSS Reader?
Yes. WebPartner can monitor RSS, Atom, and RDF feeds to provide similar service as your RSS Reader. However, WebPartner provides much more:
  • WebPartner can monitor other areas of a site that aren't reflected in RSS updates (eg, blocks of text and graphics on web pages).
  • WebPartner feeds can be customized and easily shared with others online.  You can share feeds publicly (all can see) or privately (by invitation only).
  • Others can follow your WebPartner feeds online, via email, via mobile devices, via gadgets on websites, blogs and profiles, or on social media platforms such as Twitter.
  • Importantly, you can also follow WebPartner feeds created by others who happen to be experts in a specific topic, no matter how arcane, that is covered by the WebPartner feed. Feed editors, such as this, often know where to find all of the good stuff!
Simply put, WebPartner allows you to catch everything you want and need from the Web, not just the content that any particular site distributes in a feed.

Why should I create a feed?
Feeds allow for customized integration and monitoring of all media content from your favorite websites — all done through a single view that updates as often as you want it to. In other words, it simplifies web surfing for an easier, less time-consuming experience. If you want to share your feed with an even greater number of people, you can connect your feed to a social media platform, such as Twitter. Our feed properties user interface allows you to configure this at your option.
